    The AS/NZS standard 3-phase aluminum power cable with neutral and screened layer is a transmission cable designed for industrial and civil three-phase AC systems. Characterized by high-conductivity aluminum cores, an integrated neutral conductor, and a dedicated screening layer, it is widely compatible with power grid specifications in regions such as Australia and New Zealand. Its core advantage lies in balancing economy and reliability: the lightweight nature of aluminum conductors reduces installation costs, while the screening layer effectively suppresses electromagnetic interference, ensuring stable operation in complex electrical environments.​ In terms of structure and performance, the conductor uses high-purity aluminum (purity ≥99.7%), with a conductivity of 61% IACS after annealing. Under the same current-carrying capacity, its weight is only 1/3 of that of copper-core cables, significantly reducing the mechanical load during laying. Taking the 50mm² cross-section as an example, the current-carrying capacity when laid in air reaches 145A, and when laid underground, it reaches 180A, meeting the power needs of small and medium-sized industrial equipment. The cable includes 3 phase conductors, 1 neutral conductor, and an overall screening layer. The cross-section of the neutral conductor is usually 50%-100% of the phase conductors (e.g., 16mm² phase conductors with 10mm² neutral conductor), which can balance three-phase currents and avoid neutral point shift. The screening layer is wrapped with copper tape or aluminum-plastic composite tape with an overlap rate ≥25% and a grounding resistance ≤1Ω, which can control electromagnetic radiation within 5μT, suitable for electromagnetic-sensitive places such as hospital MRI rooms and precision laboratories.​ The insulation layer is made of XLPE material with a temperature resistance of 90℃, with an insulation resistance ≥1000MΩ·km and a dielectric loss ≤0.002, which can withstand a 10kV power frequency withstand voltage test for 1 minute without breakdown. The outer sheath is made of weather-resistant PVC or PE material, with a tensile strength ≥12MPa and an elongation at break ≥150%, passing the AS/NZS 1199.3 ultraviolet resistance test, and having a service life of more than 20 years in outdoor exposed environments. The cable as a whole complies with the AS/NZS 5000.1 safety standard, with a flame retardant rating of V-0. In the vertical burning test, the flame spread length is ≤300mm, and no toxic halides are released.​ Application scenarios cover motor power supply in industrial plants, distribution trunks in commercial buildings, and transmission networks in municipal infrastructure. In food processing plants, its corrosion-resistant sheath can resist detergent erosion; in the backup power system of data centers, the screening layer can avoid electromagnetic interference to servers; in the confluence lines of outdoor photovoltaic power stations, the weather-resistant design can adapt to day-night temperature differences and ultraviolet radiation. In addition, the cable supports various laying methods such as open laying, pipe laying, and direct burial, with a bending radius not less than 10 times the outer diameter, suitable for installation in narrow spaces.​ Performance tests show that the cable has no cracks after -40℃ low-temperature impact, and the insulation resistance retention rate is ≥80% after being placed in an 85℃/95%RH humid and hot environment for 1000 hours. The screening layer remains conductive after 1000 bending tests, ensuring grounding reliability during long-term use. In summary, through material optimization and structural innovation, this cable has become a cost-effective choice for three-phase systems under Australian standards, especially suitable for engineering projects sensitive to weight and requiring strict electromagnetic compatibility.
